Who are the unsung heroes of the recent cold weather? To my mind it has to be Harlow's Postmen and Postwomen. In the recent freezing weather, our Postmen continued to deliver the mail almost every day, however cold it was. I remember seeing the Postman who dropped letters to my house, soaking wet - and cold - from the weather, yet was walking from door to door with a cheery smile.
Postmen have suffered a lot of stick in recent months, with the pre Christmas postal strike following the dispute with management. Yet too little recognition has been given to individual Postmen for their vital contribution to our community and for their determination to deliver our post, whatever the weather.
