In advance of the Liberal Democrat Party Conference, Labour Leader Ed Milliband has put out a press release, - probably to woo Lib-Dem voters - stating that Labour will 'decarbonise' the energy sector by 2030.
According to the independent Committee of Climate Change this policy will, in effect, push up our energy bills. Switching energy sources in this way will cost the economy around £9 billion a year . This translates to electricity bills increasing by £120 - impacting on lower income families the most.
It is always amazing how left-of-centre politicians want to fight for the holy grail of 'environmentalism', by balancing their green credentials on the backs of the poor.
