Back to Harlow St John Ambulance

I mentioned in a previous posting, how in October last year, I had the pleasure of attending a special service at Harlow St John Ambulance in Old Harlow, to bless two new vehicles that had been bought after a magnificent fund-raising effort.

Well, I was pleased to go back to St John's Ambulance this evening and meet some of the volunteers. I attended a very detailed lecture about Heath and Safety, from Emma Hines, whose legal knowledge was quite astounding.

After, I was also pleased to chat to Ian Wallis and Stephen Hines in the new ambulance - to find out more about the work of St John.

What struck me this time, was not just the dedication of the volunteers, but also the discipline. St John Ambulance is run as a tight ship so as to ensure that those treated get the best service that can be offered. But, as important, is the ethos that makes certain the volunteers get the training and skills base that benefits their own development as well.
