I have known Annette Courtney, a Harlow mother, for some while - and recently she met Nick Herbert MP who is now the Police Minister with me.
As the Harlow Star have reported, she is now struggling with a difficult situation and needs our help.
Annette is now in the process of having to sell her family home to enable her daughter Rachel to live independently, after a fruitless two and a half year search for rented accommodation where Rachel could live.
Rachel is 20 and has cerebral palsy and high functioning autism, but she has a very impressive academic record: she has achieved five GCSEs and is on target to gain a BTEC Level 3 in IT and an AS level in business studies.
Annette has said: "Every avenue that I have explored has been closed down and I am now in the process of selling my home to buy her a flat which will leave me homeless."
Rachel is one of thousands of young adults with disabilities who are sent home with very little opportunity to develop their skills, or enter the workplace.
Please SIGN THE PETITION TODAY for Rachel's Law, asking the Government to bring forward proposals so that all post-19-year olds with a disabililty, or disabilities, should they choose to leave home, would have adapted accommodation available to them to rent.
