Purely Vocational: I try and support Harlow Businesses as much as possible and on Friday, I was really pleased to help launch the new apprentice company Purely Vocational, at the Enterprise Hub. It was good to accompany Mark Prisk MP and Geoffrey Van Ordern MEP, whom I had invited to the event. Purely Vocational, intends to bring apprentices to companies and has developed some hi-tech ways of doing so, including using Skype for interviews. It was a good event, packed with businesses across Harlow. My intention is to get Purely Vocational to sign up to the National Apprentice Card.
Carphone Warehouse: I love gadgets so this task was really great fun. The mobile phone company has revamped its store at the Water Gardens, making it larger, with all the latest gadgets on display. The shop looked great, and it was great to have a try on the new Blackberry Playbook!
St Mary Church at Little Parndon: I was invited to visit the flower festival which was absolutely beautiful. Flowers decked all over the church, alongside some Victorian items as a reminder of the Church's heritage. This is a very special church in Harlow - probably the first ever foreign slave, Hester, is buried in the cemetery. You can see a video about Hester HERE.
Matching Tye Barbecue: Matching is a new part of the constituency, so I try and go regularly to meet local residents. Vanda and I were invited to a barbecue, which was both delicious and weather proof. The rain only started when we went home! We were just by the beautiful Matching Church and Beech Trees were in abundance as you will see from the bottom picture.
