Forget the catwalks of London, Paris and New York. Yesterday evening I attended the Harlow College Fashion Show.
All the outfits were handmade by students and choreographed by teachers. There were inspirational displays of genius and originality, including a 'gas mask' outfit, linking to the Iraq War and WW II. Some of the clothes on display were absolutely beautiful, others designed to shock, and offer a counter cultural experience.
Many of the fashion students are going off to University in September. I am sure that they will have remarkable careers ahead. After the show I chatted to some of the teachers - their passion and excitement was second to none. It is good to see Harlow yet again the centre of creativity and artistic flair.
P.S. The picture shows me with the creator of the gas mask outfit. (I hope to put the pictures of that up later).
