Harlow Civic Service: A special Sunday Service - began in 2009, by the then Chairman Cllr.Tony Hall - on behalf of local churches and Harlow Council. St Paul's Church was packed with parishioners and local residents as we heard speeches and readings from assembled dignitaries. I was asked to read from Deuteronomy, Chapter 6:1-9. The Service represented a real unification of our community.
Francos at Roydon: Once a year, the fantastic Francos Restaurant holds a free buffet for local residents and customers. I was delighted to be invited to taste some of this delicious Italian Food. A wonderful occasion. This is a restaurant that is well worth a visit.
A visit from our MEP: Geoffrey Van Ordern came to Matching to meet local residents. It was a good meeting - if not a little depressing, as GVO gave a speech about the crisis afflicting Euroland countries. The trouble is that whatever we do with our economy, the disaster of the Eurozone, is having a most severe impact on our own future. Thank goodness the UK is not part of the single currency.
Harlow Gymnastics Club: HGC is going from strength to strength. With its new premises at Sumners Leisure Centre (I was pleased to be able to work and help the Club in 2010 in their hunt for a new venue), the Club now has over 250 members. On Saturday, HGC celebrated a year long anniversary with some Commonwealth Gymnasts, parents and younger members. Sumners was packed - as we watched the very best that gymnastics can offer. The rate that HGS is going, it is likely that they will need an extra building next year.
