Message in a Bottle

To the Harlow Lions at the Maypole Club this evening, to hear about the 'Message in a bottle' campaign and all their other community work.

The Lions have given out over one thousand bottles (medium size plastic tubes) to vulnerable people across the Town. The 'bottles' contain a medical form and two green emergency stickers. One is kept on the bottle and one on the door. The bottle is kept in the fridge. In the event of an emergency, when the services arrive, they see the sticker, go straight to the fridge, open the bottle, and are able to see the person's medical details straight away. The bottle is kept in the fridge, as most people have one, meaning that it is easy to find and accessible.

The Harlow Lions also do much other impressive community work: giving money to charities and community groups, preparing Hampers for Christmas and holding a special Victorian Christmas fair - on December 8th this year. I certainly will be going.

I really enjoyed meeting the Lions. They are not only community minded, but fun too. Well worth supporting.
