Great news for Harlow College. Their A Level results have been outstanding. Not only has the College broken records with a one hundred percent pass rate, but fifty-six percent of students got A-Level grades A to B, and eighty-nine percent, grades A to C.
I am not surprised by these results. Over the last year, I have visited the College eighteen times - meeting students and teachers from different disciplines, ranging from apprentices studying car mechanics, to students of journalism, politics, art and fashion. Wherever I have been, I always have felt inspired - and uplifted too. It is not just high standards, but also a passion and commitment, that you don't see in every walk of life.
The College is not just a tribute to our town, but a wonderful advertisement - an open invitation to young people to come to Harlow College and improve their lives through education.
These results cement Harlow College's place as the best College in England - and that is official. Never let it be said again, that just because Harlow may not be as wealthy as some other towns across the country, it can't be the best.
P.S. You can read more about the College results HERE.
P.P.S. I was really delighted for one Student, Andy Huckle, who got straight A's in his A-Levels. Andy worked as an Apprentice for me in the House of Commons and achieved a Level-3. He was the first Apprentice employed by an MP - in the House of Commons. Andy is a brilliant man and will be a great success in whatever he does. You can see Andy Huckle above standing next to me, and Apprentice Minister John Hayes.
