GSK Tech

An amazing visit to GSK last Friday.

I was invited by Vice President Steve Day, to see the company's medical science -  in state of the art laboratories.  What was remarkable was not just the level of scientific expertise, but the technology alongside it. Tablets were being tested by Robots for example. Small little pills examined by huge robotic arms. In another Lab, I spoke to Technicians whose job is to measure and pack tiny modules of medicine. The levels of concentration are enormous: hour after hour of micro-measuring and organisation.

GSK has always been one of the most remarkable pharmaceutical companies in the world. Seeing their Labs, it is not hard to understand why.  It is good for Harlow that GSK has such a strong presence - (even after the tragic closure of the neuro-science division) - especially now that we are a biotech Enterprise Zone.

PS. The photo above, shows me with the GSK Chef. She had made cake to celebrate GSK's fifteenth year anniversary in Harlow.
