In Harlow
We received marvellous news this week that Harlow is the town with the highest business growth, not just in the East of England, not just in England - but the whole of the UK. Experian shows business start-ups have increased by 23.5%.
From 2010 the number of businesses has gone from 3,782 to 4,260 in two years.
The reasons that Harlow is open for business are clear - a Tory Council that has frozen council tax for three years and supports enterprise, a Conservative-led Government that has cut business taxes and chosen Harlow as an Enterprise Zone and the change in housing law to allow social housing tenants to run small businesses from their homes.
Harlow has always been a place of aspiration and enterprise.
This news confirms just how entrepreneurial our Town actually is.

Last Saturday I held an open surgery in Bush Fair and visitedthe Hub and Spoke cycling shop in Bush Fair.
This week three generations of the Criddle family from Harlow visited Robert in the House of Commons.
In Parliament
The Prime Minister has said that for the economic recovery “the only way is Essex”. His comments came after I spoke during Prime Minister’s Questions to highlight the fact that Harlow has the highest business growth in the whole of the United Kingdom.
I told the Prime Minister that this economic miracle was due to a Conservative Council that is open for business, and a Conservative-led Government that has invested in an Enterprise Zone, increased apprentices and cut taxes.

Tuesday was a very special day as the Queen came to Parliament to make a speech marking her Diamond Jubilee.
A packed Westminster Hall was awash with trumpeters, Beefeaters, instrumental music and an audience of MPs and Lords. Her Majesty unveiled a new window, given to her as a present by Parliamentarians, which will be placed in the North Window of Westminster Hall.
After her speech, I was invited to the Royal Gallery, where I was delighted - and honoured - to meet Her Majesty and the Duke of Edinburgh.
It was a really grand occasion and an event I will never forget. A day when one is really proud to be British.

I have seconded an Early Day Motion which condemns the attack on a Jewish school in Toulouse.
Myself and other MPs are outraged and horrified at the attack and send condolences to all the families, friends and communities affected, and to the people and Parliament of France.
