Today in the Commons, there was a really important short debate about the question of super injunctions and how they have been broken by Twitter et al. In essence, the Government said that there would be a special review into privacy law, both regarding sanctions and enforceability.
My own view is that it seems to be that only the super-rich can afford super injunctions to stop the publication of their alleged nefarious activities.
It is because of this that the public have taken to Twitter and other Internet mediums - in their thousands - to break the super injunction. 'I am Spartacus' has become the Twitter moral code.
A law that primarily benefits rich celebrities - but is no longer enforceable - is clearly a law that needs to be changed. It cannot be right to ban newspapers from reporting the facts - because that ban is possible to enforce - yet ignored when the ban is flouted on twitter etc, because that ban is impossible to enforce.
