Fairer Taxes for England

Today I asked the Government to look at fairer taxes for England.

On average, the taxpayer spends about £7000 on somebody in England, but around £8500 on somebody in Scotland.

In his reply, the Minister accepted that there were genuine concerns about the "Barnett Formula", which is how public spending for Scotland is currently set.

Before Christmas, I also pressed for English votes for English laws. You can see more details HERE.

  1. Scottish oil kept Maggie Thatcher afloat (source - BBC.)

Scotland is one of the self-supporting parts of the UK (source - Herald.)

Give Scotland independence and watch England sink, without the oil and whisky revenues.
