Today there was an important debate in the House of Commons, about volunteerism overseas.
I have a passionate belief that we should offer young British people the chance to do an apprenticeship abroad, as a structured Gap Year.
This is not just about economic efficiency, but social justice as well.
It would be much easier to persuade people of the benefits of foreign aid, if they knew that our young people had the opportunity to be sent overseas and to come back with real qualifications and skills.
