Economy matters

It has been a long couple of days. In the House of Commons from 0715 and finishing at 2230 hours with the final votes. Yesterday, I was pleased to be able to urge the Government establish a low tax, low debt economy, in order to bring jobs back to Harlow. Later, I was able to intervene in the Economy debate and ask the Shadow Chancellor about cuts. My point was that, why was he criticising the coalition for making cuts, when he himself had said before the election that a new Labour Government, would have to make harsher spending cuts, than anything Margaret Thatcher had done?

Answer came there none. It is astonishing that in opposition, the Labour Party still do not recognise that sorting out the economy, is the number one priority for the country. We are billions of pounds in debt and have the worst budget deficit amongst developed countries - save Greece. Yet Labour seem intent on rehashing their old warrior cry 'Tory cuts'. I don't think it will wash with the public this time, as most reasonable people recognise that urgent action is needed for long term gain.
