A future unfair for all
The talk tonight is that Mr Brown might call an election over the next few days - to be held sometime in March. No-one (apart from the Prime Minister) really knows when the date will be- and most still expect it to be in May. Nevertheless, the backdrop to the election, is hardly auspicious for the Government. As was reported yesterday, the Office of National Statistics published a report showing that the deficit in January had reached £4.3 billion - a historic record, particularlyfor January, when revenues normally come flooding into the Treasury. Britain's debt has reached nearly £848.5 billion, with unemployment at 2.6 million. A future unfair for all.
P.S. In sunny Harlow, we are ready and waiting whatever the date.

Don't concern yourself about Brown calling an early election, Robert. With his record, the last thing he wants is people asking themselves what the forthcoming bad news is that he wants to forestall. We'll all just have to wait till May to see the back of him.
